Dr. Kabir Ahmed Siddiqui, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), emphasized the crucial need to increase the number of investors to 2.5 million and provide wealth creation opportunities for the youth during the gong ceremony at the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
Dr. Siddiqui rang the gong to announce the commencement of business and highlighted that SECP is committed to promoting a stable capital market as the foundation of a strong national economy.
He outlined several initiatives to enhance financial literacy, including the introduction of short online courses to simplify the process of investor registration and account opening.
Furthermore, Dr. Siddiqui announced plans to make the Pakistan Institute of Financial Markets (IFMP) a fundamental institution for financial education and investor training, and highlighted the significant role of fintech and digital finance in Pakistan’s economic development.
In addition, the SECP Chairman revealed insurance legislation that is set to bring revolutionary changes in the sector.
