Indian brutalities in IOK have increased to alarming proportion: Gilani

Srinagar, January 29, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the unending oppression being unleashed by Indian troops on the Kashmiris have increased to an alarming proportion, turning this beautiful land into a hell for its inhabitants. Syed Ali Gilani was telephonically addressing from Srinagar the mourners of a martyred youth, Saqib Ahmad, in Arihal area of Pulwama. He said in the present circumstances the Kashmiris have been left with no choice but to fight the Indian oppression.

He said New Delhi instead of accepting the ground realities is hell-bent on suppressing the Kashmiris’ struggle with its military might. Reiterating his pledge to take the movement to its logical end, he said nobody will be allowed to compromise the precious blood of martyrs. Underlining the need to be aware of this, he said the Kashmiri people are duty-bound to safeguard the martyrs’ sacrifices and they must desist from the activities which prove detrimental to the freedom movement.

Syed Ali Gilani said that for the past 71 years, the Kashmiris had rendered unparalleled sacrifices, thousands were caged and brutally tortured, properties worth billions razed to ground and looted and women molested. But, he said, India despite doing all this has not been able to suppress the Kashmiris’ urge for freedom.

Rejecting the election dramas being time and again imposed on the Kashmiris, the APHC Chairman said the pro-India Kashmiri politicians pose as the saviours of the people only to fetch them votes in the name of roads, electricity and water, but in reality they are the ones who strengthen the unholy bond of Indian slavery. He maintained that the freedom movement has become so precious that no perk and privilege can compel the Kashmiris for any compromise.

Meanwhile, APHC Secretary General, Ghulam Muhammad Sumjhi, in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed grave concern over the deteriorating health of Hurriyat leader Hakeem Abdul Rashid lodged at Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. He said that the Kashmiri prisoners faced the wrath of communal frenzy at the hands of fascist jail authorities. He said Hakeem Abdul Rasheed is suffering from various ailments and his health has worsened in the jail as the authorities are not providing proper medical care to him.

The APHC Secretary General also expressed his serious concern over the plight of other Kashmiri prisoners languishing in different Indian jails. These prisoners include Masarrat Aalam Butt, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, Muzafar Ahmed Dar, Dr Shafi Sharyati, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Nazir Ahmed Sheikh, Tariq Ahmed Dar, Manzoor Ahmed, Abdul Ghani Butt, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Sarjan Barkati, Farooq Tawheedi, Sheikh Muhammad Ramzan, Assadullah Parray, Umar Aadil Dar, Bashir Ahmed Qureshi, Hakeem Showkat, Sirajuddin and Abdul Rashid.

He appealed to the UN Human Rights Council and other human rights organizations to at least show their concern for these illegally detained Kashmiri political prisoners who are forced to live under constant mental, physical and psychological stress thousands of miles away from their homeland.
