International Workers Day observed in Larkana

Larkana:Members of Watan Dost Mazdoor Federation, Pakistan Trade Union Federation and Peoples Labour Bureau (PLB) took out rallies separately here on Sunday to mark International Workers Day and to pay tribute and homage to the martyrs of Chicago.

Zawar Gopang, Comrade Qadir Kurd, Gul Korai, Niazi Babar, Comrade Hyderi Joyo and others said while addressing the participants that laborers are being treated even today like that of Chicago martyrs as the laborers have only been given hunger, unemployment, lawlessness, inflation and other woes and rulers have digested rights of the laborers. They said poors are becoming poorer and the powerful elite is becoming richer day by day by sucking the blood of the laborers.

They alleged that Chicago history is being repeated in this digital era adding if they are not given their due proper rights then we will be on streets like the martyrs of Chicago and then no power on earth will get us back.

They demanded rights as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan and law of the land, adding, Inflation should be controlled, subsidy on food items be given to the laborers, Rs25000 minimum monthly wages be given to workers by rice millers and other industrial unit owners including all institutions and schools, labour colonies should be constructed in all districts and be allotted to genuine laborers, laborers be registered in EOBI and social security institutions and cards be issued to them, free medical treatment be given to them and their sons and daughters, local bodies employees’ salaries be disbursed through online system of concerned district accounts offices, pensioners be given group insurance amounts forthwith, services of contract employees and daily wagers be regularized and other genuine demands. PLF members also paid rich tributes to the Chicago martyrs of 1886.
