Islamabad disallows Punjab to import wheat: Pervaiz Elahi

KARACHI: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has expressed concern over the federal government’s refusal to allow it the import of wheat on Sunday.

The Punjab government through a letter sought permission from the federal government to import one million tonnes wheat to shore up its stocks to deal with any shortage in coming days. But Islamabad refused to give its node to the provincial government in this regard.

The Punjab CM alleged that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is plotting to take revenge from the people for ousting the PML-N government in Punjab. “A sinister attempt is being made to create a wheat shortage in Punjab,” the chief minister said.
