Islamabad Welcomes Tajik Dignitaries for Inaugural Pak-Tajik Cultural Festival

A high-level cultural delegation from Tajikistan arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday, heralding the launch of the first-ever Pak-Tajik Cultural Festival, a landmark event set to begin with an opening ceremony on Thursday. The contingent, led by Sattoriyon Matlubakhon Amonzoda, the Minister of Culture for the Republic of Tajikistan, was received at Islamabad International Airport by Federal Minister for the National Heritage and Culture Division, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi.

During a subsequent meeting between the two ministers, both sides affirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations. The discussion focused on leveraging cultural diplomacy and encouraging people-to-people exchanges to foster deeper connections between the nations.

The inaugural two-day celebration will take place on Friday, December 19, and Saturday, December 20, at the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa). The event is a collaborative effort by Lok Virsa, the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), and the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture.

Organizers aim to showcase the rich cultural traditions, artistic heritage, and culinary diversity of both countries. From noon to 8:00 pm daily, Lok Virsa will be transformed into a center for cross-cultural interaction, featuring live artisan demonstrations and exhibitions of traditional handicrafts.

The festival’s program also includes folk music, dance, and theatre performances, alongside a wide array of authentic Pakistani and Tajik cuisine. Additionally, cultural seminars focusing on the shared heritage of the two countries will be held.

Special events are planned for the mornings, with film screenings scheduled for Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Farsi language seminar during the same hours on Saturday.

Attendees will be treated to performances by celebrated Tajik artists Noziya Karomatullo and Muhammadrafi Karomatullo. Noziya Karomatullo is a recipient of the prestigious Medal Hizmati Shoista, and Muhammadrafi Karomatullo holds the distinguished title of Zasluzhenny Artist of Tajikistan.

Conceived as a family-friendly event, the Pak-Tajik Cultural Festival underscores the spirit of friendship and mutual respect, highlighting culture’s role in building bridges between nations and paving the way for enhanced future cooperation.
