Japanese Testing Centers in Pakistan to Boost Job Opportunities


ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain held a significant meeting with Japanese Ambassador Akamatsu Shuichi in Islamabad, focusing on enhancing economic cooperation and workforce development. The discussions centered on the establishment of Japanese testing centers in Pakistan to increase employment opportunities for Pakistanis in Japan.



According to a statement by Press Information Department, the meeting highlighted the longstanding economic partnership between Pakistan and Japan, with both parties expressing a desire to reinvigorate their relationship. Minister Hussain emphasized the potential benefits of technical assistance and proposed the creation of a joint technical college to prepare young Pakistanis for the Japanese job market.



The Minister welcomed Japanese companies to train the local workforce and mentioned programs such as the Technical Intern Training Program and the Specified Skilled Workers Program. He noted Japan’s reputation for strict adherence to rules and regulations and expressed Pakistan’s interest in leveraging Japanese expertise for human resource training and testing facility establishment.



Hussain also cited Pakistan’s collaboration with South Korea, which has successfully increased the number of Pakistanis working there. He suggested that a similar approach with Japan could enhance employment figures, as evidenced by the recent statistics of Pakistanis going abroad for jobs.



Muhammad Tayyab, Director General of Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, indicated that the availability of testing facilities would enable Overseas Employment Promoters to provide necessary training, thus increasing the number of Pakistanis eligible to work in Japan.



Japanese Ambassador Shuichi acknowledged Pakistan’s potential for growth and expressed Japan’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic progress. He emphasized the importance of human resource development and vocational training, and expressed interest in setting up vocational institutes in Pakistan.



The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing on the promising future for Pakistan-Japan relations, with a focus on economic cooperation and mutual growth.
