Jhang’s Power Looms, Sizing and Textile Industry Should Be Saved from Closure:Former President Jhang Chamber of Commerce

Power Looms Association leader and former President of Jhang Chamber of Commerce Sheikh Mughees Ahmed has said that Jhang’s power looms, sizing, and textile industry should be saved from closure, In a meeting with representatives of the Power Looms Association on Saturday, Senior Vice President Muhammad Umar Remy and former President of Jhang Chamber Sheikh Mughees Ahmed expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of this sector.

Former Executive Member Sheikh Adil warned that the decline of Jhang’s power loom industry could lead to widespread unemployment, affecting thousands of people and causing a significant loss in federal tax revenue.

The large influx of imported cloth, especially from China, is depleting the country’s foreign exchange, contributing to economic instability. This situation has prompted calls from industry leaders for immediate government intervention. They are demanding a ban on cloth imports to protect local manufacturing and stabilize the local job market.

The Power Looms Association is actively seeking the support of the Jhang Chamber to advocate for a ban on these imports, aiming to revive the struggling textile sector and mitigate rising unemployment and public discontent. (Report: Muhammad Waheed Akhtar)
