Advocate Hasnain Ali Chohan of the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) today made an urgent appeal to the judiciary to take immediate suo motu notice of escalating constitutional infringements and human rights violations, which he described as a clear failure of state institutions.

In a statement, Chohan expressed deep concern over the erosion of fundamental civil liberties, stating that constitutional guarantees for basic freedoms, legal protection, and equal access to justice are becoming increasingly fragile.

The ILF representative characterized the unlawful arrests of political workers, enforced disappearances, and curbs on freedom of expression as a ‘blatant mockery of human rights.’ He also pointed to restrictions on visitation rights, which he said were being imposed despite contrary court orders.

Chohan highlighted that numerous individuals remain incarcerated for months without trial, while others face intimidation for exercising their constitutional rights-an alarming trend he argued has no place in a democratic society.

He stressed that safeguarding citizens’ rights is essential for democratic stability and warned that without the rule of law, the state cannot remain strong. According to Chohan, weakening judicial independence and transparency in the justice system risks pushing society towards chaos.

Reaffirming the ILF’s commitment to defending the Constitution, Advocate Chohan called on the government to halt politically motivated actions and restore constitutional freedoms. He demanded that all detainees be provided their full legal rights in accordance with the law.
