The Karachi administration, in a major operation against food adulteration, has imposed fines totaling five lakh rupees on milk sellers and disposed of a large quantity of adulterated milk and yogurt. This strict campaign signals a major effort by the city administration to protect public health.

This joint action by the Karachi administration and the Food Authority was detailed in a report submitted to the Commissioner by Deputy Commissioner East, Abrar Jafar. The report confirmed that during the operation, 60 liters of adulterated milk and 30 liters of spoiled yogurt were disposed of.

This operation was led by two Assistant Commissioners of District East. The team, headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Ferozabad, conducted raids targeting adulterated milk sellers in Nursery and on Shahrah-e-Faisal. This team imposed a fine of three lakh thirty thousand rupees on the shopkeepers and discarded thirty liters of substandard milk.

In a parallel operation, the Assistant Commissioner of Jamshed Town took action against three different milk sellers. Fines of one lakh eighty thousand rupees were imposed on them, and an additional thirty to forty liters of adulterated milk and thirty liters of yogurt were disposed of after being found unfit for consumption.

In total, action was taken against six milk sellers during this crackdown, with officials from Jamshed Town and Ferozabad taking action against three shopkeepers each.

“Said that all Deputy Commissioners should take immediate and indiscriminate action on complaints of milk adulteration,” and directed the authorities to remain vigilant and continue the campaign without any discrimination.
