Karachi Port Trust sets new cargo handling record

Karachi Port Trust (KPT) today set a new benchmark in cargo handling, surpassing its previous record set in the financial year 2017-18. This historic achievement marks the handling of over 54.685 million tonnes of cargo, marking a new milestone in its 138-year operational history.

This achievement is a testament to the strategic vision of the Federal Ministry of Maritime Affairs which aims to elevate Pakistan’s position in the global maritime sector. Federal Minister Mr. Junaid Anwar Chaudhry along with KPT Chairman Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed, SI (M), SBT (Retd) extended his important work for KPT.

The remarkable increase in cargo handling capacity underscores the growing importance of Pakistan”s maritime infrastructure in regional trade dynamics. It reflects the country”s commitment to enhancing its maritime capabilities, ensuring that Karachi Port remains a pivotal hub in the global shipping industry.
