Matani police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today successfully thwarted a major arms smuggling operation, resulting in the arrest of two suspected smugglers and the seizure of a large quantity of illegal weapons.
The successful police operation prevented a large consignment of arms from proliferating. The recovered weapons include a large number of modern arms.
The seized weapons include ten M4 rifles, four Kalashnikovs, and twelve 12-bore rifles.
In addition, the authorities also recovered two MP5 submachine gun-shaped pistols, 3,200 cartridges of different bores, and 46 magazines.
Two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the foiled attempt, who have been identified by authorities as inter-provincial smugglers.
