District authorities in Duki have warned that
individuals involved in poppy cultivation will face severe consequences, including the confiscation of their land and the inclusion of their names in the Fourth Schedule.
These decisive measures were announced by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Naeem Khan on Tuesday during a meeting of the District Narcotics Control Cell, which he chaired to address the serious drug problem in the area.
The meeting conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing efforts to eradicate opium cultivation, the effectiveness of the current anti-drug campaign, and strategies to promote public awareness programs.
Describing drugs as a “social menace,” the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for coordinated and effective measures at the district level for its complete eradication. He directed all departments to take immediate action upon identifying any poppy cultivation.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Commanding Officer FC 87 Wing Duki Shahid Bilal, Superintendent of Police Duki Anwar Badini, and Assistant Commissioner Duki Dr. Abdul Salam, along with representatives from various security agencies.
A key directive from the meeting was to ensure full public participation in anti-drug awareness campaigns to build a community-level front against the drug trade.
