LARKANA:A poor Naib Qasid widow, Afroze Begum, widow of Ghulam Hussain Manganhar, resident of Ayoob Colony, held a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh here on Tuesday against the high-handedness of a money-lender woman demanding justice.
She told newsmen that she is posted to work at Government Girls School, Gajanpur. She said that she obtained Rs200,000 from Bashiran wife of retired policeman Muhammad Nawaz Soomro on interest to solemnise marriage of my daughter and have so far refunded Rs700,000 but she is still being blackmailed on the basis of one old cheque by the same money-lender woman through her husband and sons Aamir and Saleem Soomro.
She further alleged that on 12th March the same woman lodged a fake and fabricated FIR against me at Market police station and police arrested and shifted me to Sukkur jail. She said that she is on bail now and is regularly attending court hearings. She said even then she is being threatened for life and of dire consequences by these money lenders which is forbidden under the law.
She appealed to Sindh High Court Chief Justice to take notice of the issue and do justice with her after investigating the matter and provide protection to her from the habitual money-lenders.
It must be mentioned here that the menace of money-lending has increased to an unprecedented alarming level which needs to be curbed with iron hands of law in Sindh or else innocent people will lose their lives and all other valuables at the hands of money-lender criminals.
