Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Leader of Opposition, Ali Khurshidi, strongly criticized the People’s Party government during a press conference at Sukkur Press Club. He highlighted the lack of basic facilities across Sindh, particularly the shortage of clean water and health issues.
Khurshidi stated that in the 2024 elections, MQM emerged as the second-largest party in Sindh. He mentioned that MQM is the strongest party in the Sindh Assembly and is presenting the cases of rural and urban Sindh to the rulers.
Ali Khurshidi accused the People’s Party government of failing to provide clean water to the public despite spending 25 trillion rupees over 17 years. He further stated that despite their claims, the People’s Party could not provide clean water in any union council.
He pointed out the lack of basic necessities in Sindh’s three major cities: Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur. Ali Khurshidi said that even though Sukkur’s population is not even one crore, clean water is not available there.
Ali Khurshidi also spoke about the deteriorating health sector. He noted that Sukkur Civil Hospital lacks a burns ward and has no place for a mortuary. He also mentioned the unavailability of medicines.
Expressing doubts over the People’s Party’s success in the elections, he claimed that technical changes were made in the constituencies, enabling the People’s Party to win 200 out of 168 seats.
Ali Khurshidi warned that if the government does not correct its course, the public will protest and hooliganism will not be tolerated. He emphasized that MQM will not accept canals under any circumstances.
During the press conference, Ali Khurshidi, in the presence of the heads of SEPCO and HESCO, warned that if they do not correct their course, the public will be forced to punish them. He reprimanded the SEPCO chief thrice and instructed him to correct his course.
