NAUNDERO:The employees of the Sindh Local Government Department held a convention at Town Hall here on Saturday under the presidentship of their chairman Hafiz Mushtaque Korejo for securing their rights which have always been denied to them by the ruling class on one pretext or the other.

The convention was attended by the employees from the entire Sindh. It was held under the auspices of Shah Lateef Local Government Employees Federation (SLLGEF). Employees from Sukkur, Ghotki, Larkana, Kambar-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Jamshoro, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Dadu, Naushehro Feroze, Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Tharparkar, Nawabshah and other districts attended the moot.

Chairman, SLLGEF, Hafiz Mushtaque while addressing the participants said that major demand of the SLLGEF was to pay salaries to all the LG employees through the online system of the government treasury. He said: “We will hold a march towards the Chief Minister House and stage a sit-in in front of it if the major demands are not accepted forthwith.

He said the sit-in would continue till demands are accepted. “We cannot understand why bureaucracy is treating us step-motherly when all other government employees’ salaries are disbursed through the online system,” he added

Abdul Hadi Markhiyani said that highhandedness was being done with employees from the union council to municipal corporations level which should be stopped immediately. He said what are the bottlenecks in the disbursement of monthly salaries through the digital system which will ensure proper salaries to the government servants without any so-called deductions.

Niaz Babar said that those who were recruited in 2012 were legally appointed after advertisements in the newspapers, hence, this drama must end now as they were genuine government servants.

Khamiso Leghari said that all local government servants were given monthly wages through the online system in other provinces then why the Sindh government was discriminating against these employees. He said there was one constitution and under the same laws, all citizens should be treated.

Two resolutions were unanimously passed which include payment of monthly salaries through the online system of district accounts officers without further delay and resolution of other issues faced by LG employees. They also warned of massive protests, holding long marches and staging sit-ins outside CM House if their legal demands are not accepted.
