In response to the recent terrorist attack on Manghi Dam Pumping Station No. 3, Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has taken decisive actions today to address the situation. Under his directive, the government has suspended the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Ziarat and established a comprehensive inquiry committee to investigate the incident.

The committee, headed by Muhammad Ali Kakar, Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT), includes the Secretary of the Services and General Administration Department (S and GAD), a senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police nominated by the Inspector General Balochistan Police, and a Director from the Intelligence Bureau. This team has been tasked with conducting a thorough examination of the events surrounding the attack.

Their investigation will focus on assessing the preparedness and response of security forces, examining command and control structures, and reviewing coordination among various law enforcement agencies. The aim of the inquiry is to identify any negligence, lapses in duty, or operational shortcomings.

If any failures are identified, the committee will recommend appropriate disciplinary or legal action. Furthermore, they are responsible for proposing robust security measures to safeguard key public installations and infrastructure across Balochistan.

The notification from the Home Department grants the committee extensive powers to summon records, call personnel, inspect sites, and include experts to ensure a comprehensive investigation. They are expected to present their report within fifteen days.

Chief Minister Bugti has reiterated his commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, emphasizing that any negligence in protecting public lives and property will face severe consequences. Shahid Rand, Advisor on Political and Media Affairs, assured that the government will implement effective reforms based on the committee’s recommendations to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
