The city police today claimed to have seized a significant quantity of narcotics, including over 737 grams of crystal methamphetamine (“ice”) and 312 grams of heroin, alongside a cache of illegal firearms during a comprehensive security operation across the federal capital, resulting in the arrest of 15 individuals.
The city-wide sweep, conducted following special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, is part of an ongoing effort to combat criminal elements and ensure public safety.
In a series of targeted actions, police teams from Margalla, Karachi Company, Ramna, Tarnol, Sabzi Mandi, Khanna, Lohi Bher, and Bhara Kahu stations detained 11 suspects. The confiscated items from these arrests include three pistols and two rifles, along with associated ammunition.
Formal cases have been registered against the apprehended individuals, and further investigation into the matter is in progress. Separately, a special campaign focused on fugitives led to the capture of four wanted proclaimed offenders and court absconders.
SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, stated that the police force is fully committed to safeguarding the lives and property of the city”s inhabitants. He affirmed that no one would be allowed to disturb the peace and that protecting citizens remains the department”s top priority.
The SSP also urged the public to report any suspicious activity immediately to the relevant police station or the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline, highlighting that mutual cooperation between law enforcement and residents is crucial to making the city crime-free.
