Karachi Port has witnessed a significant boost in its operational capacity as a result of maritime sector reforms initiated by the Prime Minister’s Task Force.
These reforms have substantially improved port operations, customs systems, and the efficiency of container terminals. It was officially announced today that key measures aimed at enhancing port performance and accelerating the cargo clearance process at the Karachi Port Trust have been fully implemented.
Furthermore, the operational capacity of the Karachi International Container Terminal, South Asia Pakistan Terminals, and Qasim International Container Terminal has been upgraded.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs has played a pivotal role in further enhancing cargo clearance through the digitalisation of ports. The implementation of the Port Community System, along with the use of modern cargo scanners and electronic weighbridges, has been instrumental in these improvements.
These comprehensive reforms are poised to position Karachi Port as a more competitive entity in the global maritime landscape.
