Massive march towards Shopian tomorrow

Srinagar, February 01, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a massive march will be conducted towards Shopian town, tomorrow (Friday), to protest against the surge in civilian killings by Indian troops in the territory. Call for the march has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

The resistance leaders have urged the people to march towards Shopian in large numbers and offer congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid in the town. They have announced that after congregational prayers, a rally will be conducted from Jamia Masjid to the main chowk Shopian to express solidarity with the families of three youth who were recently killed in the firing of Indian troops on peaceful protesters.

While Syed Ali Gilani continues to remain under house detention for past eight years, the puppet authorities have also put Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest to stop them from leading the march. However, Muhammad Yasin Malik has gone into hiding to lead the march. Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly denounced the raids by Indian troops for arrest of Mohammad Yasin Malik and described it the authorities’ frustration.
