Pakistan and Egypt have taken a significant step towards strengthening their bilateral relations, as high officials from both countries met today at the United Nations Headquarters to discuss strategies for sustainable development.
This meeting was held during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, where Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, engaged in a fruitful dialogue with Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Dr. Ahmed Rustam.
Both dignitaries reiterated the deep and fraternal relations between their countries and highlighted the shared cultural heritage as a strong foundation for enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including governmental, commercial, and public sectors.
A key outcome of the talks was the decision to establish a joint working group to promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The ministers also agreed to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further strengthen their partnership on mutual development priorities.
The dialogue also highlighted the demographic strengths of both countries, focusing on innovation, skills development, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment. These efforts aim to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
Dr. Rustam recalled his past visits to Pakistan, appreciating their hospitality, which he termed as a testament to the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
The ministers expressed hope that strong cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt would provide substantial benefits for their citizens and play a significant role in the prosperity of the region.
