Mirpurkhas police foiled a bid to smuggle betel nuts worth Rs8 million, arresting two drug peddlers and seizing a dumper truck used to transport the contraband.
According to a police spokesperson, the action was conducted under the directives of SSP Mirpurkhas Shabbir Ahmed Sethar as part of an ongoing crackdown on drugs and narcotics smuggling.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team, led by SHO Mirwah Police Station Inspector Junaid Qamar Memon, intercepted the vehicle No. TAJ-054 on Mirwah Road near Sim Nala.
Upon checking, the police recovered 60 sacks of betel nuts, weighing 720 kilograms, hidden in secret cavities of the dumper truck.
The police also arrested accused Ghufran Khan, a resident of Hub Chowki, and Suhail Khan, a resident of Quetta. A first information report has been registered against the accused. Further investigation was underway, the police said.
