A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), here on Thursday.

The MoU is aimed at to establish a formal framework for mutual cooperation and strategic coordination in addressing all forms of issues and complaints of overseas Pakistanis.

Generally, the complaints of overseas Pakistanis are related to property disputes, financial frauds, misuse of authority, and other matters which may require NAB’s intervention.

The objective of this MoU is also to create an efficient and collaborative mechanism whereby OPF and NAB shall jointly address and resolve grievances reported by the overseas Pakistanis.

Such grievances may encompass, without limitation, fraudulent practices in housing schemes, disputes pertaining to property possession, allotment and incidents of financial mismanagement or irregularities perpetrated by housing developers and private individuals.

Under this Memorandum of Understanding a dedicated facilitation desk or cell for Overseas Pakistanis at all NAB offices (including Head Office and Regional Offices) will be established to receive and process complaints referred by OPF or overseas Pakistanis, directly.

Also, a helpline will be established between NAB and OPF for constant liaison to address complaints filed by Overseas Pakistanis. Earlier, OPF team gave a detailed briefing on the working of OPF and issues faced by Oversees Pakistanis.

At this occasion, Chairman NAB Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed, emphasized that the overseas Pakistanis are a valuable asset to our country, and NAB, in collaboration with OPF, will take all possible measures to resolve their issues.

He said NAB will ensure that those who cheat or fraud overseas Pakistanis will be given appropriate legal punishments.
