LARKANA: GDA MPA Moazzam Ali Abbasi tendered his resignation from the Member of Provincial Assembly of Sindh (MPA) seat of Sindh Assembly here on Wednesday.

He created history by defeating PPP candidate Jameel Ahmed Soomro from PS-11 Larkana-II during the PPP rule in Sindh in a by-election in 2019 which shook the PPP rulers. He secured 31,557 votes, while his rival PPP's Jameel Ahmed Soomro secured 26,021 votes. In his resignation addressed to the speaker he said that "in the wake of recent calamity in Sindh it was evident that government administration under control of ruling PPP has miserably failed to deliver.

Sindh is suffering today under the circumstances due to the sheer incompetence, mismanagement and corruption which has seeped into every government department, particularly irrigation, revenue, health, local government, public health, agriculture departments etc. Under these circumstances I feel helpless and agitated as representative of my constituency. Since I could not deliver to the people. Therefore, I do hereby tender my resignation as a mark of protest. May Allah Almighty, help our beautiful province Sindh and its inhabitants".

Meanwhile, Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, District Larkana, Maulana Nasir Khalid Mahmood Soomro has said that MPA Moazzam Ali Abbasi sacrificed his chair for the rights of the people of the city, for which he offers his tribute to him. Maulana Nasir Soomro said that Moazzam Abbasi has resigned from his post as MPA in protest for the sake of the rain and flood victims, the failure of government in the construction and development of Larkana and the incompetence of the rulers who have destroyed the district. He said people of Larkana trusted Moazzam Abbasi twice and he presented case of Larkana in assembly in a forceful manner.

He said that rulers ignored an elected representative of the people and Larkana is still being run by a political secretary which amounted to a robbery over rights of the people. He said that Moazzam Abbasi kicked the chair in the difficult time due to the condition of the people and proved that if I cannot solve the problems of the people at the official level, I will serve the people at my own private capacity without any government status. He said that we stand with Abbasi's decision.
