The Mohmand Dam project will provide significant protection to the districts of Charsadda, Peshawar, and Nowshera from floods, while its power generation component is expected to begin in early 2028.
WAPDA officials stated on the social networking site X that upon completion, this hydroelectric facility will add 800 MW of electricity to the national grid.
The dam’s reservoir is designed with a significant water storage capacity, with a capacity of 1.29 million acre-feet.
During the construction phase, this major project will create approximately 7,000 job opportunities.
Furthermore, a fund of Rs 4.5 billion has also been allocated for various schemes for the development of the local population.
