Nearly 60,000 police personnel deployed across Sindh under major security operation in Ramazan-ul-Mubarak

The Sindh Police is set to deploy a contingent of 59,753 officers and personnel across the province under a comprehensive security plan to protect the lives and property of the public during the holy month of Ramazan.

The directive for extraordinary security measures was issued on Thursday by Inspector General (IG) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, who instructed officials to implement an integrated and robust security system during all three Ashras (ten-day periods) of the holy month.

According to a report from the Assistant Inspector General (Operations) Sindh, the extensive deployment includes over 54,237 police officers and personnel who will be permanently stationed at thousands of religious sites. This includes 7,939 mosques, 664 Imambargahs, 1,344 Shabina locations, and 329 open-air prayer sites.

In addition to securing places of worship, a force of 5,407 officers will be permanently deployed in bazaars, markets, and commercial centers across the province to maintain order and security.

The security plan also outlines significant additional deployments for key religious occasions. Security will be further enhanced with an additional 17,780 personnel for all Friday prayers, 17,996 for Shab-e-Qadr, and 23,104 for Jumu’atul-Wida.

For events related to Youm-e-Ali, an additional 18,719 officers and personnel will secure the main procession, while 15,265 personnel will be deployed for related Majalis.

IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho has directed to enhance intelligence gathering and police patrolling across Sindh. The plan also includes assigning special responsibilities to police commandos and ensuring strict surveillance on highways and public places.

The IG ordered that the process of picketing and searching at the entry and exit points of cities be made more effective. This strategy includes strategic deployment to manage traffic flow and providing foolproof security at sensitive installations, including government buildings, consulates, and places of worship for minority communities.

While announcing the security arrangements, the IG Sindh also congratulated the officers and personnel of the Sindh Police, as well as the people of the province, on the sighting of the Ramazan moon, and expressed the hope that “the greatness, blessings, and vastness of Ramazan be a source of mercy for all.”
