A new cadre of full-time field monitors has been deployed for the first time across the capital to conduct regular evaluations of 432 public schools and colleges, an initiative directed by the Federal Secretary for Education to drive performance and accountability.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants (MEAs), recruited through a specialised service provider, have been furnished with motorcycles and tablet computers loaded with standardised assessment tools and applications to facilitate their work, according to an official report today.
Following a period of comprehensive in-house training, the MEAs are now undertaking field visits to capture real-time data. This evidence is intended to provide timely diagnostics and inform corrective actions to elevate educational quality.
In a review meeting chaired by the Secretary, initial reports from the field were thoroughly examined, leading to the issuance of clear directives for immediate remedial measures. Officials state these early insights are paving the way for smarter decisions and faster improvements.
The consistent, data-driven oversight is proving instrumental in strengthening governance, enhancing transparency, and boosting the performance of educational institutions operating under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE). By fostering accountability, the programme is expected to reshape the learning landscape through significant improvements in instructional quality, assessment practices, and student learning outcomes.
