Notorious extortionist arrested in injured state after exchange of fire in Karachi, 2 suspects escape

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested a key member of a notorious extortionist gang in an injured state after an exchange of fire. A police vehicle was damaged in the encounter.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning when SIU personnel confronted the criminal gang. As a result of the firing, a suspect named Rehan was injured and subsequently apprehended. His two accomplices managed to escape from the scene under the cover of continuous firing.

A 9mm pistol with ammunition was recovered from the possession of the arrested individual. The police mobile was damaged by the firing, however, all law enforcement personnel involved in the operation remained safe.

Authorities have identified Rehanuddin as the main suspect in a previous incident of firing at a car showroom on M.A. Jinnah Road. He is reportedly a key operative of the Wasiullah Lakho and Samad Kathiawari gang, a group known for extorting money from traders and spreading terror through violent acts.

In response to the escape of other gang members, special teams have been formed to track them down and ensure their arrest. Authorities have initiated further legal proceedings against Rehan while the investigation continues.
