Over 21,000 Rounds of Ammunition Seized in Border Smuggling Attempt

Customs officials at the Torkham border crossing have thwarted a significant smuggling operation, confiscating a massive cache of over 21,000 rounds of ammunition and other weaponry intended for illicit entry into Pakistan.

According to official information today, the contraband was discovered during a routine inspection of cargo at the Torkham Customs Station. A vehicle, with registration number TAH-027 and appearing to be empty, was singled out for a more detailed examination at the NLC Import Terminal.

Advanced scanning of the vehicle revealed anomalies, which prompted officials to conduct a comprehensive physical search. This inspection uncovered the hidden shipment, which included more than 21,000 cartridges for sub-machine guns (SMGs) and rifles, in addition to other unspecified arms.

Authorities are treating the incident as a calculated and organised plot to jeopardise public safety and national security. A First Information Report (FIR) has been officially registered, and legal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with the law.

A wide-ranging investigation is now in progress, with Customs officials collaborating closely with other law enforcement bodies to explore every possible aspect of the smuggling attempt.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reiterated its steadfast commitment to combating smuggling and corrupt activities to safeguard national interests and revenue.
