Pakistan and Canada have agreed to significantly enhance bilateral cooperation in key economic sectors, including technology, trade, and energy. The agreement came after a high-level meeting where the Governor of Sindh highlighted major investment opportunities for Canadian firms, particularly in the mining and minerals industry.
This commitment was expressed during a discussion between Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and the newly appointed Canadian High Commissioner Tariq Ali Khan at Governor House Karachi on Monday. Regional and global issues were also discussed during the talks.
Governor Tessori invited Canadian investors, describing Pakistan as an attractive destination with vast opportunities. He specifically emphasized the untapped potential in the country’s mining and minerals sector.
The Governor also spoke about the significant role of the Pakistani community residing in Canada, calling them a strong foundation for friendship and joint ventures between the two countries.
In response, High Commissioner Khan commended the Sindh Governor’s public welfare initiatives, describing the provision of free IT education to youth as a commendable example of urban development.
During the visit, students enrolled in the Governor House’s IT program briefed the High Commissioner on their curriculum and the educational facilities available to them.
Following the formal talks, the Canadian diplomat toured the historic building, which included a visit to the “Bell of Hope” and the office of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. On this occasion, both national flags were flown.
At the conclusion of his visit, the High Commissioner participated in a tree-planting campaign by planting a sapling and penned his impressions in the guest book.
