In a groundbreaking move to elevate Pakistan’s aquaculture sector, the China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC) has unveiled an ambitious plan to develop a high-tech aquaculture industry in Gwadar.

During a meeting on Wednesday with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, COPHC Chairman Professor Yu Bo outlined the strategic vision that aims to position Gwadar as a critical hub in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Minister Chaudhry expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, describing it as an opportunity to transform Gwadar into a central node for seafood production, processing, and export. He highlighted the project’s potential to generate employment, attract investment, and boost the local economy, while reiterating the government’s commitment to support this transformative venture by providing essential infrastructure and facilitating investment.

Professor Yu Bo emphasized the plan’s focus on sustainability and technological advancement, underlining its alignment with Pakistan’s economic and environmental priorities. The collaboration seeks to capitalize on Gwadar’s marine resources and favorable sea conditions to meet global quality standards and enhance export capabilities.

Both parties committed to ongoing coordination with government departments and technical experts to ensure the project’s smooth implementation, reinforcing a shared dedication to sustainable growth and regional development through strategic international collaboration.
