Pakistan and Russia have signaled a significant deepening of their strategic alignment, vowing to enhance collaboration on pressing regional and global matters during a high-level meeting between their top diplomats.
The commitment was reaffirmed in a discussion between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov. The two officials met on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government gathering in the Russian capital.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, both ministers conducted a comprehensive review of the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Russia relations. They expressed mutual satisfaction with the positive trajectory and growing momentum of their partnership.
During the engagement, Senator Dar congratulated Minister Lavrov on the successful convening of the SCO meeting. He highlighted the vital role of leadership from both nations and established institutional mechanisms in advancing cooperation.
The dialogue also featured an extensive exchange of views on international developments. The diplomats emphasized the strong coordination between Islamabad and Moscow at multilateral platforms, such as the United Nations and the SCO, agreeing to further bolster their joint efforts in support of shared interests.
