Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have committed to significantly expanding their longstanding strategic defence partnership, with a renewed focus on enhancing security cooperation and joint counter-terrorism efforts, following a high-level meeting between top military leaders at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday.
The Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Saudi Armed Forces, General Fayyadh Bin Hameed Al Rowaili, held discussions with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, to deliberate on matters of mutual interest, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.
The dialogue between the two military leaders centered on fortifying the robust military relationship between the two nations. Both sides emphasized the importance of increased collaboration in defence and security, which serve as key pillars of the close bilateral bond.
During the meeting, General Al Rowaili expressed his appreciation for the support and assistance Pakistan has provided to the Saudi Armed Forces across multiple domains. He also reaffirmed his dedication to deepening the military alliance between the two allied countries.
Earlier, upon his arrival at GHQ, the visiting Saudi dignitary was formally welcomed with a Guard of Honour presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army. General Al Rowaili also paid homage to Pakistan’s martyrs by laying a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
