New York: Pakistan has commenced its two-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. The country will take the Asian seat previously held by Japan, marking a significant diplomatic engagement in global affairs.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram, emphasized the country’s commitment to playing an active and constructive role in confronting major global challenges. The new tenure provides Pakistan an opportunity to contribute to international peace and security discussions at the United Nations.
As a non-permanent member, Pakistan will participate in deliberations and decision-making processes on international security issues. The country has previously served multiple terms on the Security Council, contributing to discussions on a variety of global concerns.
