Pakistan Halal Authority (PHA) unveiled the Halal Certification Mark Scheme, which aims to establish a national symbol of authenticity for halal-certified products, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision for business ease and export growth.
The Board This initiative seeks to transform PHA into a self-sustaining entity by generating revenue through its operations.This was decided in its 6th Board of Governors meeting today, chaired by Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Khan Magsi.
During the meeting, the Board implemented significant revisions to the Halal Mark License/Certification Fee. Exported halal food and non-food items will now have zero fees, while local food item fees are halved. This strategy is anticipated to enhance halal exports and align with global industry norms.
To strengthen international trade relations, the Board approved MoUs with Belarus, Malaysia, Trkiye, Indonesia, and the UAE. These agreements aim to streamline halal certification processes and expand market access for Pakistani halal products. Additionally, the Board sanctioned the registration of slaughterhouses and food service providers to ensure adherence to halal principles and international standards.
