Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan today committed to forging a long-term strategic partnership, with top officials identifying the CASA-1000 energy project, defense, and counter-terrorism as key areas for deeper collaboration during a high-level meeting in the capital.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, in discussions with Kyrgyzstani President Sadyr Zhaparov, reaffirmed Pakistan”s unwavering dedication to building a robust relationship founded on mutual trust, shared aspirations for prosperity, and regional stability.
The Chairman Senate termed the CASA-1000 initiative a flagship project linking Central and South Asia through clean hydropower. He also articulated Pakistan”s ambition to broaden cooperation in scientific research and higher education.
Gilani noted that the presence of over eighteen thousand Pakistani students currently studying in Kyrgyzstan serves as an important human bridge, fostering stronger people-to-people connections between the two nations.
On his part, President Sadyr Zhaparov conveyed Kyrgyzstan”s strong resolve to expand diplomatic and economic engagement with Pakistan. He emphasized his nation”s commitment to reinforcing trade and investment links.
The Kyrgyzstani President called for close coordination between the relevant institutions of both countries and reiterated his nation”s support for Pakistan”s position at international forums, expressing confidence in the bright future of their bilateral relations.
The meeting was also attended by Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, and Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider.
