Pakistan Navy launches 4th Hangor Class Submarine Ghazi

Pakistan has reached a critical milestone in its naval modernization program with the launch of the fourth Hangor class submarine, the PNS Ghazi, at the Shuangliu Base, signaling the near completion of the project”s Chinese phase.

According to a PN information today, the launching of the Ghazi means all four submarines constructed in China under a bilateral agreement are now undergoing extensive sea trials, marking the final stage before their official handover to the Pakistan Navy.

This naval acquisition is part of a broader agreement between Pakistan and China for a total of eight Hangor class submarines. While the initial four were built in China, the remaining four are slated for construction within Pakistan by the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Ltd.

These state-of-the-art submarines are set to be equipped with sophisticated weapons and sensor systems, enabling them to engage targets from considerable distances. The fleet is described as pivotal for maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The launching ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials from both nations, an event that further demonstrates the deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
