Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to accelerate discussions on new Qatari investments, scheduling a dedicated task force meeting within the month of Ramadan to consider concrete proposals.
The decision came during a high-level meeting in Doha on Tuesday between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Qatar”s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, according to an official information today.
Dr. Al-Sayed, who also serves as the chairman of the Pak-Qatar Joint business taskforce, met with the Prime Minister during his official visit to the Qatari capital this morning.
During the deliberations, both dignitaries reviewed the existing bilateral trade and economic partnership, expressing mutual satisfaction over the growing momentum in relations between the two nations.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasised the strategic importance of boosting bilateral trade volumes and diversifying Pakistan’s export portfolio to Qatar, with a specific focus on agricultural products, food items, and value-added goods.
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to highlight Pakistan”s recent investment-friendly reforms and the organisational role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in streamlining and encouraging foreign investment into the country.
Reaffirming his country’s position, H.E. Dr. Al-Sayed reiterated Qatar’s keen interest in expanding economic collaboration and strengthening private-sector and business-to-business linkages between the two countries.
The discussion also included a follow-up on the 6th Session of the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to implementing the previously agreed-upon decisions.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to further deepen trade, investment, and industrial collaboration, signifying a strong commitment to enhancing the economic ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
Also present at the session were Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi.
