Pakistan has unequivocally declared that Jammu and Kashmir is not, and has never been, an integral part of India under the principles of international law, challenging New Delhi”s long-standing position on the territory.
Accordng to an official information today, the assertion was made by Asif Khan, a minister at the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations, in a rejoinder to comments delivered by an Indian delegate before the UN General Assembly.
Minister Khan referenced a series of United Nations Security Council resolutions, which he stated recognise Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory.
He underscored that these international mandates stipulate the region”s final status must be decided by the “freely expressed will of its people” through an impartial plebiscite overseen by the UN.
The Pakistani representative expressed regret that India has denied the inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir this right to self-determination for decades, accusing the nation of concurrent systematic suppression.
