Pakistan should continue its diplomatic efforts to preserve the US-Iran peace process: Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir

Sardar Masood Khan, former ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, China, and the United Nations, emphasized the crucial need for Pakistan to continue its diplomatic efforts to safeguard the fragile peace process between the US and Iran.

In a statement today on the changing dynamics of Middle East security, Khan highlighted Pakistan’s significant contribution to the formulation of the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran. He stressed the importance of Pakistan’s ongoing involvement in addressing the obstacles encountered during the implementation phase of the agreement.

Khan pointed out the need for vigilant monitoring to oversee the ceasefire and identified pending issues related to security and freedom of movement through the Strait of Hormuz. He acknowledged the roles of both Pakistan and Qatar as mediators, emphasizing the critical need for direct dialogue and confidence-building measures between the US and Iran to prevent misunderstandings and maintain regional tranquility.

The former ambassador’s statements come at a critical time, as international stakeholders are closely monitoring developments in the Middle East, hoping that diplomatic engagements will prevent the resurgence of hostilities.
