The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced to convene an All Parties Peace Jirga on November 12 to tackle the deteriorating security situation in the province and devise a consensus strategy for stability.

The decision was made on Wednesday in an important consultative meeting focused on the serious law and order challenges in the region. The meeting was jointly chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and the party’s provincial president Junaid Akbar.

During the high-level talks, the participants conducted a detailed review of the overall political and security situation, and deliberated on various aspects of the proposed peace gathering and the future course of action required for restoring peace.

It was decided that invitations will be sent to all political parties to unite the entire provincial leadership on a common platform. The stated purpose is to achieve a consensus-based approach for establishing lasting peace in the province.

The Peace Jirga will be held at 11 a.m. in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Hall. Participants will include the heads, presidents, and general secretaries of all provincial political parties, as well as former chief ministers, representatives of civil society, and senior members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Association.
