Top parliamentary leaders from Pakistan, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan are set to convene in Islamabad for a crucial three-day conference beginning Sunday, with safeguarding regional integrity, ensuring sovereignty, and formulating collective responses to external threats topping a high-priority agenda.

The 3rd Trilateral Conference of Speakers aims to bolster parliamentary cooperation among the three allied nations. It will serve as a vital platform for deliberating on strategies to advance sustainable peace, regional stability, and shared prosperity.

The distinguished gathering will be attended by Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq; Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye, Numan Kurtulmus; and Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Madame Sahiba Gafarova, who will be accompanied by their respective parliamentary delegations.

This trilateral engagement is part of an ongoing initiative to enhance inter-parliamentary dialogue and institutional collaboration. According to a Radio Pakistan report, the Islamabad summit is anticipated to consolidate legislative relations and help develop a coordinated approach to pressing regional and global challenges.

Before the main plenary sessions commence, a Speakers’ Executive Meeting will be held to review the progress on decisions from previous conferences and to finalize the agenda for the current assembly. The opening session will feature keynote addresses by all three participating speakers.

Discussions during the summit will also cover a wide range of topics, including the impacts of climate change, the advancement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and improvements in disaster resilience and management. Promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges is another key objective.

The conference reflects Pakistan’s deep-seated commitment to parliamentary diplomacy as a tool for fostering peace, cooperation, and inclusive development. The event is expected to conclude with the adoption of the “Islamabad Declaration,” a document intended to chart a new course for strengthened trilateral partnership.

As part of their visit, the speakers and their delegations are also scheduled to travel to Lahore to pay their respects and lay a floral wreath at the Mausoleum of the great philosopher-poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
