Pakistan, World Bank Deepen Engagement on Critical Energy Sector Reforms and Fiscal Stability

Pakistan and the World Bank have agreed to continue technical-level engagements to explore viable solutions for the nation”s pressing energy sector reforms and financial sustainability, according to details from a high-level meeting held today.

The understanding was reached during a discussion in the capital between Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and the World Bank”s Country Director for Pakistan, Bolormaa Amgaabazar, according to an official information today.

During the meeting, the finance minister reiterated the government”s commitment to advancing structural reforms and improving governance frameworks.

Discussions also centred on strengthening cooperation under the World Bank”s Country Partnership Framework (CPF). Minister Aurangzeb emphasised the importance of the effective operationalisation of the CPF, particularly in priority areas such as population management and climate change.

The World Bank Country Director reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to working closely with both federal and provincial stakeholders, intending to further enhance information sharing and collaboration.

Both sides concurred on the need for sustained dialogue to find feasible solutions for the energy sector that align with Pakistan”s reform agenda and fiscal framework.
