The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has formally requested the Sultanate of Oman to streamline its business visa procedures, identifying the current process as a significant obstacle to realizing the full economic potential between the two nations.
According to a statement today, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasized that this appeal is particularly timely as the FPCCI, in collaboration with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), is organizing a major Single Country Exhibition in Oman, tentatively scheduled for January 2026.
He articulated that Pakistan regards Oman not only as a crucial strategic partner but also as a vital gateway to the broader markets of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Africa, and Europe.
In a related development, Engr. Sami Abdullah Salim Al Khanjari, the Consul General of Oman in Karachi, confirmed that both countries are actively working to operationalize a ferry service. This initiative aims to facilitate business, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges.
Offering further support, H. E. Sheikh Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah, Sheikh of the Pakistani-Omani Community, expressed his commitment to assisting the Pakistani business community in overcoming challenges related to travel, joint ventures, investments, and licensing in Oman.
FPCCI Senior Vice President, Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, noted that the planned exhibition is a critical step to convert the historical ties between the nations into significant economic growth. He stated the event will showcase Pakistan”s diverse export capabilities, including sectors like IT, engineering, agriculture, and textiles.
According to FPCCI Vice President Aman Paracha, the organization is coordinating with OCCI, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and other stakeholders on the exhibition”s modalities. The primary focus is to maximize business-to-business (B2B) opportunities and diversify trade.
Mr. Nadeem Mehboob Magoon, Chairman of the Pak-Oman Business Council of FPCCI, affirmed that the council is actively developing the logistical framework for the upcoming trade fair.
The importance of the bilateral relationship was recently underscored by the FPCCI”s representation at Oman”s National Day celebrations in Karachi. The federation remains optimistic that collaborative efforts will soon elevate the economic partnership to reflect its true potential.
