Pakistan’s Foreign Inflows Soar as Remittances Hit $3.6 Billion in Dec

Pakistan’s economy received a significant boost as remittances from overseas workers surged to US$3.6 billion in December 2025, marking a substantial 16.5 per cent increase compared to the same month in the previous year.

According to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday, the monetary inflow also demonstrated strong short-term growth, rising by 12.6 per cent on a month-on-month basis.

On a cumulative basis, the figures for the first half of the fiscal year 2026 showed a robust trend. Total workers’ remittances reached US$19.7 billion during this period, a 10.6 per cent rise from the US$17.8 billion recorded in the corresponding period last year.

The central bank’s report detailed that the primary sources for these inflows in December were from Pakistanis residing in Saudi Arabia, who sent US$813.1 million. This was followed by contributions from the United Arab Emirates at US$726.1 million, the United Kingdom with US$559.7 million, and the United States of America, which accounted for US$301.7 million.
