Palestine elected chair of Nairobi branch of G77 plus China

Nairobi Palestine assumed Thursday the chairmanship of the Nairobi branch of the Group of 77 (G77) plus China, taking over the post from the Ethiopian ambassador.

The handover of power ceremony was held at the UN headquarters in Kenya’s capital Nairobi, in the presence of the members of the G77.

Palestine’s nomination to chair the Nairobi branch was supported by the Asia-Pacific Ocean Group at UN.

Palestine became chair of the Group of 77 plus China at the United Nations at the start of this year.

The Group of 77 is the largest intergovernmental organization of developing nations in the United Nations. It was created on 15 June 1964 and has since expanded to 130 members.
