Parliament Internship Programme Sees Huge Interest, Chairman Engages With Future Leaders

Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, interacted with 200 university students selected for a prestigious parliamentary internship.

The session, themed “Engaging Youth for a Responsible Democracy,” aimed to cultivate democratic principles and civic duty among young Pakistanis. The program saw extraordinary participation, attracting over 16,000 applications nationwide. The final 200 participants, including students from Sukkur IBA University and Aitchison College, represent a diverse group chosen for the four-week program.

Mr. Khan”s address covered various topics, starting with recognizing the energy and capability of Pakistan”s youth. He then presented the PMYP”s role in the nation”s future, discussing the importance of young people in upholding democratic ideals. He emphasized the program”s efforts to instill these principles through various projects.

He also outlined the PMYP”s comprehensive backing for youth empowerment and reaffirmed its dedication to a responsible, youth-driven Pakistan. A question-and-answer period followed, enabling participants to converse with Mr. Khan, exchange perspectives, and seek advice on contributing to the nation”s democratic progress.

Mr. Khan highlighted key PMYP initiatives, including “Perfect Pitch,” a platform linking entrepreneurs with investors through television, and the nationwide “PM”s Cricket Talent Hunt Trials.” He encouraged interns to join the “Digital Youth Hub,” a platform providing access to education, employment, engagement, and empowerment resources, and to promote the platform among their friends. This PMYP endeavor provides young Pakistanis with real-world experience in policymaking, administration, and civic involvement, preparing them for future leadership roles.
