Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today expressed gratitude to the expatriate community for their contributions as Pakistan witnessed an unprecedented surge in remittances last month, with overseas Pakistanis sending a record $4.1 billion in March, marking the highest monthly figure ever.
The Prime Minister shared that this amount represents a 37.4% increase compared to the same month last year. The first nine months of the fiscal year have seen remittances totaling $28.1 billion, reflecting a 33% rise.
In a statement from the Prime Minister”s office, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the dedication and commitment of overseas Pakistanis, noting that their support is a testament to their confidence in the country”s economy and government policies. He referred to the recent Overseas Pakistanis convention in Islamabad as evidence of this trust.
The Prime Minister lauded overseas Pakistanis as a valuable asset, emphasizing their role in not only bringing pride to the nation but also in bolstering the economy. He assured them of the government”s commitment to providing all necessary facilities to support their contributions.
