Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Baku, Azerbaijan, is being seen as a potential beginning of a new era of cooperation between the two countries.
According to a statement from the United Business Group (UBG) today, this visit is expected to strengthen trade relations between the two nations.
In a declaration issued by UBG’s central spokesperson Gulzar Firoz, UBG President Zubair Tufail and other key leaders, including Khalid Tawab, Hanif Gohar, and Syed Mazhar Ali, shared their views on the visit.
UBG leaders believe that high-level discussions during this visit are expected to boost the confidence of the business community, thereby further strengthening bilateral relations. They stated that this would lead to increased trade and investment and promote cooperation in critical sectors such as energy, climate change, and cultural exchanges.
The leaders mentioned that the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum, followed by B2B meetings, will provide an opportunity for businesspeople from both countries to explore joint venture opportunities. The current volume of bilateral trade stands at 7 million dollars, with Pakistan’s exports at 5.7 million dollars and imports at 1.3 million dollars.
To further solidify bilateral relations, UBG leaders proposed holding individual exhibitions in each other’s countries. They also emphasized the need to increase direct flights between the two countries to boost tourism and trade.
UBG leaders expressed that the Prime Minister’s visit is expected to strengthen the already strong community ties between the two countries, which are based on shared values and harmony.
