Political victimization must stop, says PFF Chairman

Mehran Ali Shah, Chairman of the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF), has called on the senior leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to put an end to political victimization.

In a statement on Friday, Shah highlighted that his uncle, Kamal Shah, a prominent voice for the fishing community, has been falsely implicated in a case. He reported that on Thursday, Sindh police raided Kamal Shah’s home without justification. ‘Male officers entered our house and tortured Kamal Shah, his wife, and their daughters,’ Shah said. He added that Kamal Shah has been arrested and is facing fabricated drug charges.

‘This is a clear case of political victimization,’ Shah stated. He accused local PPP leaders of attempting to silence him and emphasized: ‘We will not stop raising our voices for the fishermen community.’

Shah insisted that police should remain impartial and focus on protecting citizens rather than harassing them. ‘The role of the police is to safeguard the public, not to intimidate them,’ he asserted.

In response to the ongoing victimization, he announced that the PFF plans to initiate a protest movement. ‘Enough is enough. The Sindh government cannot silence us,’ he declared.
