Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar visited the Safe City Authority to review various aspects of the project. He was accompanied by Sindh Home Secretary Iqbal Memon, Project Director IT, and other senior officials.

According to Sindh Home Ministry information today, Mr Lanjar directed that the project should start from the airport and emphasized that the surrounding areas should be fully covered under the Safe City project. He said that work in Red Zone and Shahrah-e-Faisal will be completed later.

The home minister stated that the cameras installed under the Safe City project would prove to be an effective tool against crime. He mentioned that once criminals are caught on camera, their escape options would be limited, and the project would further enhance the security of citizens.

Director General of the Safe City Project, Asif Ijaz Sheikh, briefed the Home Minister on various aspects of the project. He reported that a survey for 300 poles has been completed, and 128 poles have already been installed at different locations.

Control room equipment, data center systems, and the video wall have been installed at the Central Police Office (CPO), and live monitoring is underway with 25 cameras. The NRTC warehouse in Karachi has received 100% shipment of all required equipment, and the procurement of emergency response vehicles is also in progress.

Additionally, a request has been submitted to K-Electric to install electric meters at 50 pole sites, which will make 170 cameras operational, with an estimated total cost of 1.15 million rupees.
